Join us for a monthly webinar series, ASK A PHYSICIST, with renowned physicists Paul Davies, Sara Walker and Maulik Parikh from the Beyond Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science at Arizona State University. Each webinar will address a big question in physics and the audience can submit questions ahead of time or during the webinar to add to the discussion! This month, Paul Davies and Maulik Parikh will be joined by guest presenter Kirt Robinson, a research scientist in the Beyond Center
March's webinar: "Life in the solar system"
Finding life beyond Earth would bring about a new age of discovery for humanity. The obvious place to look is in our own backyard where things are more familiar, our solar system. As a close neighbor, Mars is a long-time favorite, but there is growing interest in ice-covered moons that host subsurface oceans of liquid water farther out in the solar system, with Saturn's moon, Enceladus, and Jupiter's moon, Europa, as leading candidates. Across these potentially habitable landscapes, how should we be searching for life? Where should we be looking? What might we find?
This webinar is free and open to the public; however, registration is required.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
Please submit your questions for discussion to deepthought@asu.edu with the subject ‘ASK A PHYSICIST Question: Life in the solar system’.
Questions can also be submitted during the webinar through the zoom Q&A!
